Media In Pakistan

Media is playing great role in every society. It plays important role in setting agendas of public. We all are given with so much information all the day. Electronic media, print media and social media are some common types of media.
In case of electronic media there are a number of channels are working including news, sports and entertainment channels. It is the responsibility of media to highlight those issues which are good for the public and discourage unethical factors of the society. Being an Islamic country, our media should represent us in a good way towards the world. Media should not use negative tools to increase their viewership.
Unfortunately, role of media in Pakistan is getting quite irresponsible; as there are so many talk shows and political debates on the screen all the time and sometimes they seems to be crossing their limits. Media should work in its limits and according to some rules and regulations.
Role of media in Pakistan cannot be neglected; Pakistani media relates dramas, movies, sports, news and entertainment and so many features to the people. Its dramas reflect society and happenings and issues in the society not only to the people of Pakistan but also to the whole world, news channels alarm the people about all the current happenings, within and outside the country.
Media has played very important role in reshaping, and changing the people in Pakistan. It has revealed the facts to the people about crimes and social issues and also informed the people about the issues outside their country. The media mainly television has become the main storytelling vehicle and the journalists have become the key players in identity building.
There is a great competition among the channels and it has gone to severe conditions, that they have starting to use negative tools to increase their viewership.
Our media is not projecting our national image. Our media at times uses Indian language; projects Indian Stars in our ads, etc. Our country lacks a defined policy to promote national image through media.
Pakistani media is also blamed for overwhelming negative exaggeration. It glamorizes issues, newspaper headlines are depicting violence, etc all this demoralizes the nation. At times news are given without authentication.  Unethical material, photographs, scenes are shown on our media promoting vulgarization.
Our media sensationalize the issues, accidents, incidents. When too much of information is available it creates confusion.
Theoretically Pakistan means a land of pure people but media has shown it a land of terrorist organizations. There are thousands of street terrorists existing in United States and in other European countries but their media has never displayed culture of killings and murders. Unfortunately, wherever in the world a mishap occurs it is presented as Muslims did this or responsible for it.  Once there was a report on BBC of which headline was Muslim terrorists attacked on NATO.
Are we peace lovers or terrorist exporters? Certainly Muslims means followers of Islam which means peace then why we are labeled as terrorist? The same role intentionally or unintentionally has been vitally exercised by Pakistani media. All the day, news of chaos comprised on sensation is appearing on our TV screens while natural beauty and natural resources exist in Pakistan are partially touched.
Media is considered to be a watchdog in a democratic country.  It’s the requirement of time that our media should work for the positive and real soft image of Pakistan.
It is time to realize that Media has nothing to do with the politics. It is mirror of a society and it should present what is better for country. Last but not the least; Media should also realize its equal responsibility of building a nation rather than criticizing everything for the sake of personal interest.
