Breaking the stereotypes about Pakistani women!

By: Faiza Khatoon

Internationally the image of Pakistani women is not good . She is considered as a weak figure of the society who is not independent, can not take decisions for her own life, she is murdered, killed and slapped by the male. she is one who is not confident, can not achieve anything in her life and she is helpless.

This is reality that hundreds of females are killed in honour killing every year. They are being raped. They are murdered and beaten up for several other reasons. This is also true that they are living in a male dominant society. But can somebody please tell where these things are not happening?

Every country on this globe is facing such problem. In every society females have to face hurdles to raise her voice and to prove her identity and skills. Ethiopia, France, Germany, Sri Lanka, Canada, United Kingdom, India, Sweden, South Africa and United States are the top 10 countries with the highest rape crimes and domestic violence.

USA the super power of the world is at the first position in the race of rapes. Males are majorly the rapist holding a proportion of 99%. Out of all the victims, 91% are females while 9% are males.More than a quarter of college-age women report having experienced a rape or rape attempt since age 14.Three to four million women in the United States are beaten in their homes each year by their husbands, ex-husbands, or male lovers. One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

The latest estimates suggest that a new case of rape is reported every 22 minutes in India. Approximately 85,000 women are raped on average in England and Wales every year. Over 400,000 women are sexually assaulted each year. An estimate of 240,000 women and girls has died up till now in Germany because of this crime.

Then why Pakistan is considered as the worst place to live in for females? why there is a lot of negativity outside the world about this country? The world should know that women of Pakistan is strong enough to face the challenges. she can do wonders.

If people think that Pakistani female is forced to live in home and she is not independent then what Zahra Afridi is doing? This hard-core Interior Designer runs her own company with her latest project being the Classic Rock Coffee CafĂ© in Islamabad. She also happens to have kick-boxing training, which is a very unconventional field.

Samina Baig is first Pakistani woman to climb mount Everest, she is also the youngest Muslim ever to climb Everest. Nazia Perveen is a terrific rock climber who participated in 32 competitions and never stood second. Namira Salim has reached the North and South Pole. She is also the first Asian to skydive over Mount Everest but best of all, Namira, is the first Pakistani woman to travel into space.

There are many other examples that shows, Pakistani women is second to none. She is confident and can achieve whatever she want.
